Week 38

Did my week38 checkup this morning and Dr. Fong commented my weight is getting stagnant, water (amniotic fluid) is enough, and start dilated! But I don’t understand why is he saying my weight is stagnant while I am continuing gain weight from week to week : ) anyway, as long as he is not scolding me for gaining over weight, I will be very happy. Furthermore, he thinks that I will deliver anytime next week! Wow! : D delivery time is getting soon and around the corner. Daddy and I are getting anxious and looking forward for the special moment with joy.

Maid helper - Siti

We have hired an Indonesian maid helper and she arrived last Sat. Her name is Siti who is from Jawa Tengah. The future arrangement is that after my confinement period and started back to work, we will send baby and maid to my mother’s (外婆) house in the morning and fetch them back home after work. The maid will be help up doing house chores and taking care of baby.

To my girl girl: “外婆 and Siti姐姐 will be take care you when daddy & mummy are at work. You must show your respect to them ok? And of course if Siti姐姐 bully u, mummy will fire her without second thoughts! “

No early delivery

Daddy & Mummy applied leave and time off on Nov 23rd to see Dr. Fong. Usually we go for checkup during weekend but for this round the arrangement was made on a weekday so that we have longer time talk to doctor about the birth plan if there is a need to deliver earlier (may be require to induced) as to mummy’s amniotic fluid was running low a week ago. However the amniotic fluid level is back to normal!! And Dr. Fong agreed to remain my EDD (estimated due date) on Dec 12th! We are so happy after hearing from doctor that no early delivery required : )

Besides, Dr. Fong informed that blood count for me is low – 10.7 (below the normal level 13-18) but it is still fine and what needs to do is to continue taking iron as the supplement. 外婆 is puzzled and wondering … Because she has been feeding me lots of tonics and even few time of liver dish/soup for me… Anyway, I am still alright at this moment and nothing much to be worry with :D

I am looking forward the labor soon..,, Super exciting!!

Dr Fong measured the amniotic fluid in the sac yesterday and said he might deliver the baby early. We will know when on this coming friday during the next check up. Getting very anxious :)

Have anyone heard about HypnoBirthing? Read this interesting birth story http://www.life-inspirations.com/birthstories.htm.

This story has inspired me to stay calm, relax and confident during labour and birth later. I may consider to get a birth ball and this can use as an exercise ball after delivery. (Btw, girl girl, you must 保佑 mummy will still slim and pretty as before after giving birth of you ok? : D) The lady in this birth hats off to HypnoBirthing and her doctor who supports natural birth. And I am salute for her braveness!

Amniotic fluid

I am having bi-weekly checkup for my trimester now. Went to see Doc. Fong last Saturday. He checked and said that I am fine with my amniotic fluid level. Read from book that amniotic fluid will at the max level from week 34 onwards and maintain till delivery.

Breast Pump

Consulted cousins & friends, I will go with their recommendation to get Medela brand electrics breast pump although it is costly : )

Our girl is 8 months now

As usual, we are reading bedtime stories for her, not every night :P, but at least 2-3 times a week. After 2 months, our life will change completely ;).

2kgs for the past 3 weeks! Dr Fong advised to take less carbo food, so mummy said "Lets go KFC!" haha!

This is 1 of my baby’s time blouse that 外婆 still keeping… she passed to me when got to know that I became pregnant. So lovely that girl girl have chance to my wear my baby blouse!

Nutrition

I never have taken so much of supplements in my life! But because need to ensure enough nutritious consumption for baby and I so I am taking below supplements from doctor prescription & relatives and friends advise.

Spirulina - to prevent yellowish color on skin
Enfa mama milk powder - contains DHA and etc
Manuka honey
Nutrilite protein powder from Amway,
Fresh fruit juice
Tong Sui (birds nest, Snow Fungus, Gingko with beancurd paste and etc..)
Home cooked chicken essence/soups (mum cook & boil by using charcoal : ))
Plenty of waters

Supplements in tablet:
Folic Acid – (Dr. Fong still prescribe this supplement to me till today – WW29)
Iron
No Calcium prescribe by Dr. Fong.. he said I don’t need it..

Is there any nutrition that I should look for come to my third semester now? :D

These are the 2 books that I will recommend to new father & mother.

1) 胎教黄金书– prenatal simulation
This book not only has demonstrated different types of prenatal simulation ways but the part that I enjoyed and refer regularly are the session which talks about weekly changes on mummy & baby and guide me on what are the 胎教 that I can do for each week. This is helpful as it does pre-aim me the changes that I been through and going to be and ease my anxiety who is expecting the first child.

2) Your new baby
To my surprise, this book was bought by my younger sister Xin to me. It is a handy book (about 100 pages) that with chapters about: newborn baby, holding and comforting, feeding and nutrition, bathing, changing and dressing, sleeping and going out with baby. Andy and I are enjoying reading it and this definitely serves as a guide for us to look after our baby during the important first few months.

Daddy & Mummy started our first story telling time to our lovely baby last night... the title of the story is "The Clever Sang Kancil". This is a short story that found in 1 of the Enfa Mama Club magazine. Mummy plan going to Popular bookshop and get more story books for girl girl…. : )

Lots of stuffs

Mummy going into 3rd trimester. Most of the stuffs were bought, nothing else except for those "nice to haves". We bought the last major item yesterday, the baby cot with a latex mattress, the material is similar to what we are using as pillows. There were 2 choices, coconut husks and latex, latex gives you more comfy over husks.

We started using latex in the recent years, its not like cotton where you have to "push" them to the center for extra puffiness ;). If you are using it too, just remember that you don't have to dry your drool under the sun, else you will burn the material. haha!

20-22 weeks anormaly scan

We spent 3 hours at the scan center!!! 45mins were spent looking out for the limbs, heart, bladder, lungs, basically making sure baby is growing normally. Baby was active at first, after 45 mins i think she is tired :P and she started sleeping! thats where the obstacle of the Sonographer, Ms. Leong Li Anne, started.

The current position only allowed her to scan the face of our girl girl, but Ms Leong need to look at the top and back of the brain.

Mummy fell sick

21 June (thurs) - Started with cough, blocked nose and finally fever! Rushed her to SJMC primary care (ER) and consulted the doctor on call. After some triage, doctor confirmed throat infection. Took MC on friday, Daddy had to WFH too.

22 June (fri) - Fever gets worse, getting cold sweat too. Still coughing :(
Applied some "Vicks" on her neck and that kinda ease her cough a little. Also placed a cool wet cloth on her forehead and face (like what my mum did :D). During the night, her fever eased.

23 June (sat) - Developed allergies :( - took her back to the gynae @ SJMC, an advise from her relative. The usual reply for "How are you, Sharon?" is now "No good doctor". Showed the medication to the doctor and he confirmed that the antibiotic may have caused the allergies. He also made some checks, ultrasound scan and baby heartbeat monitor and concluded "The baby is fine". PHEW !!!!!

All is well now.....mummy is resting alot and taking alot of fluids.

HFM disease

Down Syndrome scan

Dr Fong asked if we wanted to scan the baby for Down Syndrome. We agreed that it will be difficult for the child and the people who care, so we decided to take the scan. The scan is scheduled on 24 May at 3pm.

Business trip

Sharon's in Singapore for a regional meeting 20 to 23 May 2007. Kind of worried, but should still be ok, hope her meals are well taken care of.

Change of doctor

We consulted Dr Fong on 19 May. He seemed experienced and kind. We will stick to him.

He did another scan and also confirmed that the delivery date is 12 12 2007. Also placed a microphone to hear the heartbeat, Dr Fong took quite sometime to locate the baby :) and eventually we hear soft consistent beats! phew...
